Happy Orange Shirt Day!

We had a great Friday!
We began the day with our usual morning assembly, but today Ms. Hayward shared information about the Indian residential school system.

Morning Circle Time - JKs participated in our circle time where the special helper put the number on the calendar and counted, checked if Johnny had the proper outfit for the today's weather, added a popcorn to our 100th day of school counting and as a class we sang our calendar songs.
Snacks - JKs were encouraged to eat their healthy snacks.

Jolly Phonics – we sang our letter A, T and S jolly phonics song and had literacy centers.

Recess and lunch
Language/Arts – we had our Show and Tell presentations. Everyone did a great job presenting their item for the letter T. Ms. Hayward also read us a book titled: Stolen Words

Reading Buddies - JKs enjoyed their Gr. 5s reading buddy time.
Math – today we tied our math with our UOI. JKs helped me sorting pictures of fruits and vegetables.

Recess and Lunch
Centers – for centers today JKs had wooden blocks, kitchen and lego.

Name Mosaics

Terry Fox Run/Walk

Today our day was a bit different!
In the morning we participated in the terry Fox Run and I must say JKs did a wonderful job!
Then we came in class and had play dough time (as part of our fine motor activities).
After lunch and recess we completed our lowercase writing assessment. JKs were just encouraged to try their best. Then JKs had some time for centers.
After second lunch and recess we had story time and French class.

Jolly Phonics – we sang our letter T jolly phonics song and completed a page of our workbook - Writing With Phonics. JKs practiced proper pencil grip and writing the uppercase and lowercase T within the lines. We also practiced recognizing the letter T in the beginning and end of words such as tent, turkey, pilot, pot, turtle, etc...

Recess and lunch
Language/Arts – today we read a nice story about Goerge the monkey and read books to each other.

Math – in math we worked on number 2 and how to represent number 2. Students were encouraged to draw only 2 things on their paper and colour only two stars.

Rainy Tuesday!

We had a fun and productive day!

Snacks - JKs were encouraged to eat their healthy snacks.

Jolly Phonics – we listened to our phonics songs for the letters S, A and T. Then we all became detectives and dabbed all the Ts on our paper.

Recess and lunch
Language/Arts/UOI/Fine Motor Activity – today we used grocery store fliers to cut and sort healthy and unhealthy foods. JKs had fun and worked on their fine motor skills. :)

Math – today we completed an activity where JKs had to draw only one item on their paper and colour only one star. We will continue with this activity for numbers 2-10 through out this week and next week.

Recess and Lunch
Centers - today we had our daily five "read to someone". JKs had a variety of books to choose from and were encouraged to "read" to a friend.
