Happy Tuesday!

Oh how we wish Mr. Sun was out today! :)
We had a great day though!
In the morning we had morning circle time and snacks. Then we headed to the dome to practice for Arts Night.

Once we came back, we had recess and lunch. Right after lunch, we had some time to write in the white boards. It was cute to see the JKs playing spelling bee. :)
Then we visited the gr.3s UOI showcase. They created flowers and because we are learning about living things, JKs could related to their work.

Next, we went to the dome again for our rehearsal.
After second lunch and recess, we worked on writing with phonics workbook.
We had a little bit of time for centers.

Fun Monday?

Yes! Mondays can also be fun!
We began the day with morning circle time. During that time, JKs shared what they did over the weekend. The stories are endless! :)

Next, we had gym class, story time, recess and lunch.
After lunch we worked on texture. As part of our art curriculum, JKs learned that are different types of texture.

Then JKs had some time to work on their writing with phonics workbook.
Right after second recess/lunch, we reviewed what a living thing need in order to live and grow. Then JKs completed a cut and paste activity where they sorted the pictures accordingly.

Language Arts –  today we worked on cvc words, specifically "an" family. Students had to read and write the word first. Then color, cut the letters and glue in the box to make the word. This activity is also a way of assessing students if they are able to follow 2-4 step directions.  
Math/UOI – in math we involved our UOI on living and non living things. JKs were encouraged to cut and glue the pictures accordingly to their category: living X non living.

Language Arts –  today we talked about our new unit of inquiry on living and non-living things. We talked about the differences of a living and a non-living thing.

Next, we worked on our workbook writing with phonics.

Math – in math we continued learning about coins. Today we pretended to work in a supermarket. JKs used the fake coins to purchase items.

Through the video we learned a few things we can do to help the Earth.

Then we completed a journal page: "I can help the Earth by______." JKs were encouraged to copy the end of the sentence from the board: recycling or planting a tree.

Next, we made a nice poster about the Earth Day. Take a look:

 

Math – today we looked into coins. JKs sorted the coins and learned the names. We will continue with coins tomorrow.
